What is “RUN, HIDE, FIGHT”?

November 1, 2016 By admin Leave a Comment

Run, Hide, Fight is both a MESSAGE and INSTRUCTION.  These three words instruct us about what to do if we are in a situation where a shooter is attempting to cause mass murder and violence.

The instructions are simple:

RUN… if you can, HIDE… if there is a secure place and FIGHT…for your life if you have to.

The RUN HIDE FIGHT protocol was initiated by the Department of Homeland Security in an attempt to limit the casualties in a mass shooting.  It is to help encourage the mindset that we do not have to sit quietly and wait for a shooter to kill us.  Instead, we have a plan (RUN, HIDE, FIGHT) to protect ourselves, to get out of harm’s way and to fight back to survive.
